February 2016.....
I designed the landing gear
from photographs as close to the fullsize as possible. The various legs
are made of different diameter steel automotive brake tubing. The
oleo legs with the springs are covered with a balsa and glasscloth .
 The
large call letters on the wings are being painted here..... I have hand-cut
the letters out of low-tack adhesive-back sheet mylar (paint mask).
These are stuck in place and masked off with lots of paper then sprayed with
black latex
and finally peel off the mylar.....I love doing this, It's like Christmas
morning, peeling it off and seeing the results underneath!!
Back
to the cowling.....after a lot of sanding, filling and masking the paint is
finally applied.....it's beginning to look like the "out of Africa"
moth!!
